The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), released the SEEI 2024 on 29 August 2025. The index is a composite tool to track and compare the energy efficiency progress of Indian states and Union Territories, promoting data-driven monitoring, policy innovation, and alignment with India’s net-zero by 2070 vision. SEEI 2024 is the sixth edition since its first launch in 2018.

- Coverage: 36 States/UTs assessed for FY 2023–24 using 66 indicators.
- Sectors: Buildings, Industry, Transport, Agriculture, DISCOMs, Municipal Services, Cross-sector initiatives.

- All 36 States/UTs prepared State Energy Efficiency Action Plans (SEEAPs).
